Description
Digital Cereal/Grain Analyser TYPE 7705 is a precision electronic instrument for analysing the contents of protein, oil/fat and moisture in different types of grains and oil seeds. The measurement of these contents determine the overall quality characteristics of the grains or oil seeds. Normally the measurement of these parameters by chemical methods is highly time consuming and cumbersome.

The Digital Cereal/Grain Analyser is simple-to-use and user friendly instrument. This instrument gives direct read-out of the values of protein, oil/fat and moisture in computer display.
Digital Cereal/Grain Analyser has been developed in technical collaboration with the Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, Chandigarh under the Technology Modernisation for Oil and Pulses Industry Mission of the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
This Instrument has been designed to provide higher productivity, efficiency and cost benefit to Oil and Pulses producing farmers and corresponding industries.

Principle

The system uses Near Infra Red (NIR) technology and statistical mathematical treatment to predict the percentage of constituent concentration within a sample. Research has proven that certain constituents absorb the light energy at specific wave lengths. For instance, moisture absorbs 1940 nm band of NIR light, protein absorbs the 2180 nm band and the oil 2310 and 2330 nm bands. By bombarding the sample with a very narrow band at a specific wavelength of NIR light, the constituents of a sample can be predicted, since the light energy absorbed by the sample is inversely proportional to the reflected light. The following equation is used :

% Constituent = [ KA + K1 log (1/R1) + K2 log (1/R2) + K3 log (1/R3) + ..... + Kn log (1/Rn) ]

Where,  
  KA = Bias adjustment for the calibration.
  K1 = Coefficient for the first filter position.
  Log (1/R1) = First filter's machine logarithm of reciprocal reflectance (absorbance) = A1
  K2 = Coefficient for the second filter position.
  Log (1/R2) = Second filter's machine logarithm of reciprocal reflectance (absorbance) = A2

Calibration

A large number of standard samples of a particular Cereal/Oil Seed or Grains are taken with different percentage content of moisture, oil and fats, etc. and calibrated using the software against these samples.

The Digital Cereal / Grain Analyser measures the percentage concentration of constituents like moisture, oil, protein etc. in a wide range of commodities common to the grain, oil seeds and food industries etc.

Wavelengths and Unit Capacity : The system is equipped with five optical filters. Provision for further addition of five more filters has been made.
Environment : The system must not be used in hazardous locations i.e. there should not be any rapid temperature change at its location.
Sample Cup : Two sample cups, a sample cup - loading tray, scapula and brushes are provided with the system.
Requirements of the Computer System : Windows 98 / Windows 2000 / Windows XP compatible PC.
